Martial Arts

Goal setting is an essential skill for success in life. It is one thing to know where you are going but it’s another ball game when it comes to knowing how to get there. Goals are the milestones that lead to the accomplishment of any vision as they help you chart your journey there.

You might be wondering why this is important so I’ll take you back on a mind trip back to the resolutions you made at the beginning of the year. Remember them – Stay Healthy. Get fit. Lose Weight. Make more money. Spend less. Save more. Travel more. Be a better parent. Work less. Get organized. Be effective at work. I could go on and on.

How many of those resolutions can you record as a success now? It’s all a pipedream if you would be honest with yourself.

Well, the reason that happened was because you haven’t bothered to understand the skill of goal setting. If you knew how, you would be able to record better success with your goals. Yet, it’s amazing to realize that most people live their lives without figuring out how this works.

But the reality still remains that anyone who has been exposed to traditional Martial Arts training has picked up the art of goal setting. This is because no sport or activity makes use of goal setting like Martial students. Over the last thirty years, I, Sensei Marcus Hinschberger, and my wife Sensei Christina Hinschberger, have helped thousands of students learn the art of goal setting even before we founded Tokon Martial Arts in Sacramento.

Using the principles of the Martial Arts, we teach our students how to develop a strong image of their goal in the mind as well as how to create a desire to attain it and keep your motivation on the way to achieving it. They learn how to set bite-sized goals on the journey to achieving the long-term goals.

These are some of the simple strategies that have helped students advance from one level to the next. And they, in turn, have taken these skills outside the wall of the classroom and applied them in various aspects of life such as business, finances, and relationships.

That to me, is one of the greatest advantages of Martial Arts training. Beyond the benefits to the physical health and the tremendous self-defense lessons, there is also the cross transference of skills such as leadership, goal setting and focus into other areas of life.

It doesn’t matter if you have absolutely no idea what goal setting is, or you’re just dying to improve, the Martial Arts classes we hold at the Tokon Martial Arts will prove very invaluable to you.
