You are obsolete

You are obsolete - a harsh statement, but this is where things are slowly moving towards.

Let me explain: Taxi drivers? - Obsolete - not just because of the invention of Uber and Lift but let’s take a look at what the car industry is doing: self-driving cars are slowly but surely popping up anywhere.

Cashier and checkout clerk? Obsolete - you go to the self-checkout, swipe your credit card or waive your phone, and out the door you are.

Chefs and Cooks at fast food restaurants? Obsolete - they are now getting replaced with Burger-Flipping robots. Do you think it’s only affecting low wage jobs?

Bankers? Obsolete - thanks to ATMs, online banking, online check depositing and more so artificial intelligence taking over banking and trading, they are becoming obsolete. Once iPay, bitcoin and all other electronic payment forms have finally been put into place it will give bankers the death penalty: Obsolete.

Not convinced yet that you might too become obsolete?

Well, teachers, obsolete - why do you think the powers in place position computers, iPads and other electronics into place, to keep paying pensions and wages? No, it is to make teachers obsolete. After all, learning is now so much more fun because a “learning game” does make it so much more exciting, so much more interactive so who would argue with the electronics at schools? Besides electronics and computers is something every child needs to learn to stay competitive.

How about robots that assist surgeons and doctors. Where do you think that is going and will end? Robots are taking over in every part of our society - everywhere around the globe. In Saudi Arabia, they have given a
Robot citizenship - how cute is that. And that’s the problem; people think it’s cute - not realizing that this citizenship is to give the robot-human (civil) rights so that you dare not to argue with a robot.

Stop thinking that electronics will make your life easier and more comfortable because they don’t. With well-orchestrated tools such as Facebook, YouTub, and other social media they will make you emotionally weaker by subconsciously suggesting to you that there is a comfortable celebrity lifestyle for anyone.

Stop thinking that electronics, robots and artificial intelligence will unburden you from physical labor, sweat or god forbid even pain - if they do then you are dead already.

Humanity accelerates their demise because we want it too easy. We want the no pain, no sweat, no effort, solve it all kind of pill. By doing, so we are making ourselves obsolete.

We need mindful activities. We need activities that make us mentally tougher and physically stronger. We need activities that foster, teach and enforce our human qualities such as empathy, team spirit, and team collaboration. We need leadership skills as well as mentors.

We need activities that get us in touch with our own body, with our potential and with our soul.

I concluded that pushing your child to be a math honor student won’t do anything for him or her beside it makes you a proud parent.

Why?

Because in the future, artificial intelligence will make ALL the math ever needed in this universe in a split of a second. Do you think this is all talk? (

In just 30 years we were able to transform a cell phone brick into a little supercomputer that already now gives us access to literally all knowledge out there.

How fast do you think this process will take and how much it will accelerate once AI is going mainstream? Programs that self-learn, self-teach at a speed and capacity no human could ever imagine?

We will become obsolete if we do not focus on the human aspect - something that robots and AI cannot replace.

We need to go back in time because it is my firm belief that those things have been figured out for us already thousands of years ago. The ancient cultures knew about activities that will get us not only in touch with ourselves but create inner peace and wisdom that can have positive benefits to our societies: yoga and martial arts.

Yoga is probably easier to accept to the reader as a peaceful activity, but martial arts will probably need more explaining.

At first, a spectator or observer of martial arts will not be able to see beyond the kicking and punching that are seen as violent outbursts. However, only by looking closer and deeper it comes to the surface that martial arts are tools to self-cultivate and self-develop.

An activity that requires thousands of hours and thousands of repetition to learn and master ultimately will teach its practitioner patience, perseverance, focus, commitment. Since this ancient knowledge can only be taught from person to person, it will also teach loyalty (to the teacher as well as loyalty by the teacher to the student). It will teach mentoring and mentorship, leadership skills and empathy.

An activity that requires you to face and confront, will not only challenge you in physically and mentally but will force you to confront your inner demons and violence leading to an in-depth “conversation” with your spirit and soul.

The practitioner will start to realize that conflict is always a conflict within oneself. Maybe pride, anger, fear, the feeling of scarcity or anything else that affects one’s ego. When this conflict cannot be managed within it will turn outwards as well, and one will fight with others.

Martial Arts are the perfect tool to learn to develop one's human qualities. Martial Arts are also the ideal tool to learn the commitment, the determination, and the perseverance to create the mental and physical strength to take on any challenge this modern world will throw at you.

What are the math honors good for, if one has not developed the necessary commitment and determination to use it and make more out of it. What is any of the academic knowledge good for if you have not learned to overcome your fears, doubts, worries and inner conflicts?

My name is Sensei Marcus Hinschberger and my wife Sensei Christina Hinschberger, and I are the owners of Tokon Martial Arts.

Some consider us as experts when it comes to self-development and self-cultivation. In our Karate school, we create a high achiever atmosphere that will inspire the student not only to stay on track but to keep improving.

We strengthen confidence and reduce fear, anxiety, and doubts. We teach our students to learn how to fight the internal conflict within, which in return will not only help solve them their own personal conflicts but will also make it easier to resolve conflicts with others.

The family-friendly atmosphere that we have at our school creates a circle of friends that are supportive, inspiring and motivating to excel. At our dojo, you are never too young and never too old to start working on yourself. We will teach the mental and physical strength it takes to persevere in modern society.
